A fresh start for “Village Voices Community Choir” in Ston Easton
If you have ever thought about joining an established choir and wondered whether you would be good enough and perhaps struggle to catch up and fit in then there was never a better time than now to give it a try with Village Voices. We are proud to announce the appointment of a new choir leader, Kerrie Duce, who is introducing us to some brand new material so we will all be together “in the same boat”. Here she is pictured at a recent practice putting us through our paces.
Kerrie Deuce photoKerrie studied music at Bath Spa University specialising in voice, before completing a PGCE in primary education. Whilst her day job is a primary school teacher, she keeps herself busy in her 'spare time' as a musical director of the award winning Bristol Musical Youth Productions and most recently as the new choir leader of Village Voices.
"After a busy Monday at school, a session singing Rutter, Chilcott and other choral favourites is just as therapeutic as a large glass of wine! Within the Village Voices we have a wonderful mix of singers, professions and personalities, but we all have one thing in common - we love to sing. We enjoy a broad range of repertoire, making music together, but we are also driven to make a good sound."
Kerrie is thrilled to have taken on the role as choir leader with Village Voices. After a summer break, new repertoire is underway and sounding great already! The choir are excited about new beginnings and their future together.
We have in the past arranged or supported fund raising concerts which enabled us to make donations to a number of local charities including Air Ambulance, Orchard Vale Trust, Bristol Children’s Hospital, Promise Mentoring.
We meet at Ston Easton Village Hall on Monday evenings for a coffee and chat around 7:15 to start the session at 7:30 and finishing at 9:30. Why not come along and give us a try, you are guaranteed to receive a very warm welcome.
